Cath Lab Tech Onboarding OverviewCath Lab Techs (CLTs) graduate from accredited schools and then proceed to practice in hospital settings. They have been trained with hands on and simulations, but are not ready to work independently as a newly graduated radiology tech or cath lab tech. New CLTs generally orient for up to 6 months. St. David’s and their Academy for Clinical Excellence has developed a CLT Onboarding program in order to standardize the training for these techs.

Cath Lab Tech Onboarding Goals
To promote and enhance increased clinical competencies/skills during the orientation period.
To facilitate interdisciplinary relations with other professions through interpersonal classes and rotations.
To bridge the gap between transition from CLT student or radiology tech to independently practicing cath lab tech in a cath lab setting.

Cath Lab Tech Objectives
Partner with the 5 SDH facilities to offer an onboarding program.
Offer interprofessional classes with Cath Lab and OR nurses and CSTs.
Offer content by clinical experts including OR educators, staff, techs and others.
Utilize clinical rotations to provide additional observation and hands on experiences.
Provide engagement and leadership opportunities to experienced cath lab staff and techs by including them in the curriculum development and teaching opportunities.
Increase CLT engagement and satisfaction as a new employee.
