Cardinal Health is currently searching for a Manager of Warehouse Operations for the Baltimore, MD distribution center.
This leader will be responsible for the overall management of the ValueLink (VL) department, our JIT customer base, Quality and Inventory Control and DoD fulfillment.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations for the site and has 6-8 direct reports, and 40 indirect reports.
The shifts for this position are first and second shift, working with the VL outbound teams.
Shift hours for the main VL teams are from approximately 8am to 10pm, Monday - Friday, with a small team present on Saturdays and Sunday on first shift.
The VL manager normally works a dynamic shift schedule, depending on shift needs, to ensure proper floor time with the entire team on a regular basis.
Standard start time for the VL Manager role is 9am, Mon-Fri, with frequent adjustments to their schedule to see all team members.
The Baltimore distribution center stores and manages approximately 26,000 unique SKU’s with inventory value of $34 million, operating 7 days a week to service our JIT customer base.
Daily outbound volume is approximately 14,000 lines distributed to a customer base of around 1,000.
Service geography includes MD, DC, VA, PA and NC.
The facility serves as a major 3PL hub for Baxter Corp.
Manages staff to ensure product distribution in accordance with customer expectations while meeting distribution center standards of budget, policies, procedures, and quality.
Monitors warehouse productivity, adheres to budget requirements, works towards obtaining distribution center programs and coordinating all necessary repairs.
Recommends and implements programs, policies, and strategies to increase production and efficient space utilization within the facility.
Implements and administers all policies and procedures.
Ensures quality service is provided to the customers, ensures prompt follow-through on customer correspondence related to shipment of merchandise and stock-on-hand.
Handles general employee inquiries and resolves concerns.
Responsible for supervisory and employee population development, training, coaching, counseling and performance appraisals.
Maintains positive employee relations.
Must be flexible with work schedule to be a visible leader and maximize employee interactions for a multi shift distribution operation.
Professional Experience, Qualifications & Attributes
Bachelor’s Degree required
6+ years’ experience developing and managing teams in warehouse operations environment; prior manager level experience preferred but not required
Ability to lead and manage a team of supervisors and associates
Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma processes preferred (e.g. LSS Green Belt)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Manages professional employees and/or supervisors; may manage business support, technical or production staff
Has accountability for managing financial resources
Provides technical guidance to employees
Develops processes and procedures to implement functional strategies
Has in-depth expertise in own job family and knowledge of the related job families
