The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is proud to announce an opening for an outstanding physiatrist with a strong desire to further our clinical practice, science and education. The qualified candidate would practice at the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin SpineCare program. SpineCare is a transdisciplinary team based program which consists of Physiatry, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Case Management. This position would involve primarily outpatient services to include musculoskeletal medicine, EMG, and other spine related treatments.

The department enjoys a large integrated program with 26 faculty at three major teaching hospitals; i) Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, ii), Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Hospital and iii) Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

Froedtert Hospital is the primary adult hospital affiliate of the Medical College and is staffed by College physicians providing care in all medical specialties and subspecialties. Froedtert is the only adult Level 1 Trauma Center in eastern Wisconsin. Located within the hospital is a 31 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, specializing in spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, spasticity and tone management, and general rehabilitation.

The Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is an academic tertiary care facility closely affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Department of PM&R has research laboratories at the VA including our health services research offices and rehabilitation robotics laboratory. The Zablocki VA includes a 32 bed acute inpatient spinal cord injury unit and an 11 bed general/neurological inpatient rehabilitation unit.

The Medical College of Wisconsin is a major national research center; the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and 2nd largest in Wisconsin. In fiscal year 2013-14, faculty received approximately $164 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes, of which approximately $144 million is for research.

Milwaukee is the cultural and economic center of Wisconsin. The city boasts a very reasonable cost of living and a four-season climate. Milwaukee is home to three major sports teams, many shopping centers and malls, and a variety of county parks in addition to a beautiful lakefront. Milwaukee offers an excellent ballet, opera, and symphony. An outstanding zoo provides enjoyment for the entire family. Summer music festivals on the lakefront are among the largest in the nation.
