Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with high-achieving or Honors students at the collegiate level is preferred. Candidates with an understanding of the unique environment of an Honors Program or College, coupled with an understanding of the value of interdisciplinary studies, are preferred. Candidate with experience using Microsoft Access or similar data management system preferred.
Position Description

The University of Louisville's Honor's Program is looking for an Academic Counselor. This position requires an individual skilled at working in a multitasking environment. Primary duties include the academic advising of students in the University Honors Program, co-coordination of the Honors General and Science Living-Learning Communities (LLCs), serving as co-advisor for Honors student organizations, assisting with the coordination of Honors conferences and Honors travel seminars, participating in wide-ranging Honors admissions and recruitment initiatives, and working closely with the Assistant Director for Student Programming on the development and enhancement of extracurricular and co-curricular programming. This individual will also be expected to work closely with numerous offices outside of Honors, notably Campus Housing, Student Activities, and university-wide committees related to LLCs. This individual will also serve as co-instructor for Honors First-Year Seminars.

Individuals pursuing this position should have at least one year of academic advising or related experience in higher education, exceptional writing and communication skills, research experience, and a strong computing background. The staff member holding this position assists in additional office functions and other duties as assigned.
