BASIC FUNCTION (Purpose of the Job)

Maintain, update, repair, modify and install new and existing plant electrical systems (high/low voltage), instrument and

control systems and computer related equipment to meet operation requirements and objectives

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (List in order of time spent)

Perform emergency troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on

various process chemical analysis systems including laboratory off‐line systems

Perform mechanical maintenance on electrical such as lubes on systems, replacing

bearings as needed and other miscellaneous mechanical functions required of the

electrical system

Perform emergency troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on

various process physical measuring systems such as pressure flow, temperature

and other miscellaneous functions of physical measurement systems

Perform emergency troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on high

voltage switch gear, cables and transformers

Perform emergency troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on low

voltage transformers, cables, switches and miscellaneous feedback devices

Install conduit and wiring to facilitate new equipment

Adjust, troubleshoot and maintain specialized electrical conduit as precipitators,

voltage controls, DC motor voltage control and variable AC controllers

Monitor plant HVAC system and other environmental controls

Perform emergency troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on

programmable logic controllers, PC systems, networks and devices used in systems


Assist Electrical Coordinator with the development of job standards and premaintenance


Performs any other duties as assigned by a supervisor

EDUCATION (including degrees, certificates, and/or licenses)

High School diploma or G.E.D.; prefer Associate Degree in Electronics or equivalent trade school course completion or military training

TRAINING (internal and external courses)

Programmable logic control training course

Lotus and Word processing software

Annual MSHA training

Regulatory and Company safety training


Prefer three (3) years of industrial electrical maintenance and/or instrument technician experience with a process flow type manufacturing environment


Ability to use trigonometry and algebraic functions to solve for calibration of unknowns

 Basic knowledge on the use of electronic and electrical equipment, NEC, wiring techniques, motor control, sizing of electrical components in a circuit, electric hydraulic systems, electric (pneumatic systems, theory and operation of DC motor control, variable frequencies) motor controls

 Basic knowledge of physics and chemistry, and advanced electronics

 Knowledge of appropriate software, disk drive maintenance, troubleshooting PC components

 Familiar with temperature, pressure and position type transmitters

 Ability to complete written reports, material requisitions and job orders


 Frequently reaching, walking, standing and grasping

 Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and heavy lifting

 Dusty and noisy environment around large manufacturing machinery

 All weather elements from extreme cold to extreme heat

 Ability to access all work areas in the plant
