Roles and Responsibilities

The Associate Media Planner (AMP) contributes to overall client media plan development and stewardship while learning the basic fundamentals of the media and communications planning process. The AMP works with the Media Planner and/or Media Supervisor in the development and execution of all media plans, including gathering data/research, producing/maintaining support documents and tools, and assisting the planning team in all communication efforts.

Major Responsibilities/Primary Functions
Point of View/Insights
• Researches and compiles competitive data analysis and insights to get a sense of where the competitors are advertising and how much they are spending
• Works with Media Planner in developing agency point of views on media platforms and channels to submit to clients
• Keeps current with market and audience research (industry periodicals, newsletters, websites)
• Works on other miscellaneous projects as assigned

• Studies demographic data and consumer profiles to identify desired target audiences for specific media vehicles, including lifestyles and psychographics to help shape integrated media plan
• Works with Media Planner in the issuing of RFPs (requests for proposals) to media vendors
• Develops and maintains strong working relationships with clients and vendors; meets with sales representatives to obtain information about their products

Media & Communication Planning
• Works with Media Planner in the preparation, development, execution and monitoring of media plans; helps create and maintain flowcharts/plans
• Manages executional details across media formats based on client’s media mix - can include TV/OTT, print, OOH, digital, social, cinema, etc.
• Works with media planner to manage client budget records

Media Plan Execution
• Works with Media Planner and Media Supervisor to prepare estimates, insertion orders, buy specifications, and negotiates space reservations
• Checks invoices and resolves invoice/buy discrepancies
• Conducts make-good negotiations with publications in case of errors
• Conducts in-flight campaign reporting and pacing reports
• Reviews and evaluates pre-buy and post-buy analysis in order to help determine future buys

Qualifications, Distinguishing Characteristics and Special Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree - concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration and communications preferred but not necessary
• 6 months to 1 year media experience in a creative advertising agency preferred
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Suite
• Prior knowledge of Donovan Data Systems a plus but not required
• A proven track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound critical thinking skills and maintaining composure in stressful situations
• Exceptional written, verbal and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees, vendors and clients
• Exceptional initiative and attention to detail
• After hours work required
