Job Summary:
Join the SwRI Legal team. Draft, update, review, and negotiate various contracts, including but not limited to subcontracts and purchase orders and provide legal analysis. Provide legal advice and guidance to staff on contractual provisions. Provide transactional support to the Subcontracts and Purchasing Departments. Conduct research on legal issues, as assigned. Compose correspondence related to transactional and contractual matters and disputes. Develop and conduct educational training for staff, as assigned. Serve as liaison with outside counsel and government officials in various matters, as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Requires a Juris Doctor Degree (JD) with a 3.0 GPA and a minimum 3 years of transactional and contractual experience. Must have experience performing a variety of legal duties such as advising on transactional and contractual issues and drafting, updating and negotiating legal documents. Must have knowledge of commercial and government contract law. In-house counsel experience and familiarity with corporate matters preferred. Familiarity with science and engineering environment, non-profit organizations, and/or intellectual property is a plus. Must be able to write clearly and concisely. Must have strong negotiation skills and ability to work as a member of a multi-functional team. Must be able to perform legal research using Westlaw. Must be familiar with Word and Adobe software. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
