Faculty Positions – Clinical Pathologists
The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, an independent non-profit faculty clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University (GWU), and the flagship GWU Hospital, invites applications for faculty positions in clinical pathology. The Department of Pathology is in a phase of growth under new leadership. Our medical center, with a state-of-the-art academic hospital and expanding Cancer Center, is located in a vibrant campus in the heart of the nation’s capital. We are growing our clinical services, genomic molecular pathology, and innovative research programs. The laboratories include chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, coagulation, microbiology, immunology, flow cytometry, clinical informatics and computational pathology, and genomic molecular pathology. These non-tenure track faculty appointments will be made at a rank (Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) and salary commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include oversight of regulatory compliance, accreditation, quality management programs, participation in institutional initiatives involving the clinical laboratories, and training of residents, fellows and medical students in laboratory medicine. The successful applicant will demonstrate leadership skills and experience in administrative, clinical teaching, and research activities of an academic department of pathology. Opportunities are available for active research as independent investigators or in collaboration with other clinicians and basic investigators. Successful candidates with strong research backgrounds who may establish principal investigator-led research may be considered for appropriate research support and laboratory space.
Minimum Qualifications: MD, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent; applicants must be board certified in clinical pathology and/or anatomic and clinical pathology with a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a clinical laboratory director at the time of appointment; have strong evidence of scholarly achievements, expertise in pathology and clinical informatics, clinical chemistry, apheresis, transfusion medicine, microbiology or molecular genetic pathology; and be eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia.
Application Procedure: To apply, please complete an online faculty application at http://www.gwu.jobs/postings/72645 and upload a curriculum vitae and cover letter describing your qualifications for the position. Review of applications will begin on 02/28/2020 and will continue until the positions are filled. Only complete applications will be considered. Employment offers are contingent on the satisfactory outcome of a standard background screening.
