Policy within the BPA Communications & External Affairs (C&EA) organization.Job Advert: Key Accountabilities: Policy Development? Develops and implements a robust process to document and share BPA's positions on major public policy issues with BP leadership, collaborating with C&EA colleagues.? Scans the horizon to identify emerging trends and longer-wavelength issues for potential early action (by BP or allied third parties) to avoid or mitigate risks or seize opportunities.? Promotes policy consistency and alignment among the Group, BPA, and the individual U.S

businesses, providing proactive input to the Group to ensure that U.S

priorities and perspectives are incorporated into Group-wide policy priorities and positions.? Works with C&EA and other functional colleagues, along with the U.S businesses and their embedded policy & strategy teams, to develop coherent and consistent BPA positions on cross-cutting issues such as carbon pricing, methane, fuels and transport policy.Policy Engagement? Supports the Head of U.S

Policy, in representing and speaking on behalf of BP in public policy forums and initiatives in support of BP's U.S

businesses (e.g

US trade associations or policy groups) or the Group (e.g

OGCI), all in close coordination with the C&EA Communications and Government Affairs teams and Group Policy.? Serves as the day-to-day relationship manager for key U.S

policy groups, think tanks and university policy programs, particularly those related to climate policy, e.g

Columbia, Harvard & Tufts.? Implements proactive engagement strategies with U.S.-based environmental and policy groups, in coordination with the Group.? Supports Group Policy and Investor Relations in their engagement with Socially Responsible Investors (SRIs) in the U.S.? Supports BP's Group and U.S

Economist in the rollout of BP's Energy Outlook and Stats Review to U.S

policy and thought leaders.Essential Education: ? University degree in a relevant subject

Essential Experience and Job Requirements: ? Proven capability and experience working on U.S

policy advocacy and development; known, respected and well-networked in the U.S

energy policy community.? Advanced knowledge of, and experience in, the wide range of energy and climate policy issues affecting BP's businesses, and public policy mechanisms to address them.? Flexible and able to work with diverse colleagues within the U.S

and globally while understanding the importance of BP's single external face.? Strong written and verbal communication and advocacy skills, including editing, and the ability to present information in a clear and compelling manner. ? Very strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.? Exhibits good judgment; builds effective working relationships; possesses excellent problem-solving skills; can manage multiple programs/projects simultaneously and independently while working under tight time constraints.? Thorough and detail oriented; able to review and absorb as well as draft/edit policy papers, articles, legislation and regulation.? High level of energy and enthusiasm toward new and evolving challenges.? Proven track record in analytic, policy, advocacy or external affairs roles.? Ability to work across organizational boundaries and to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

Desirable Criteria: ? Understanding of BP strategy and business model, including central functions and businesses? Experience working on energy and climate policy within both the public and private sectors? Experience drafting legislation and regulations? Experience working directly with environmental and socially responsible investor groups?
